Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificate Specialists

Refrigerated cabinets

Installing high-efficiency refrigerated display cases is an eligible activity under the Victorian Energy Upgrade (VEU) program. The scheme acts to incentivise end users to purchase energy-efficient appliances driving the transition of electricity generation towards renewable and lower carbon sources.

Expert Group work with case manufacturers and refrigeration contractors to support end users with their investment in new refrigerated display equipment. The VEU scheme provides a rebate that helps bridge the cost gap between purchasing top-of-the-range, high-efficiency refrigerated display cases and cheaper alternatives.

Expert Group work with major refrigerated display case suppliers who supply high-quality, energy-efficient refrigerated display cases into the Australian market.

The scheme covers both remote and self-contained (plug-in, to be launched in the second half of 2024) case formats and fridge and freezer temperature classes installed in new premises or as part of a refurbishment.

Cold rooms

Businesses can claim rebates by upgrading older cold room and refrigeration systems to more efficient technology. Expert Group can assist businesses in claiming rebates for electronic expansion valve (EEV) only, 3 out of 5 energy efficiency (EE) features or 5 out of 5 EE features.

The EE features are a refrigeration system that includes the following parts:

  1. Compressors with variable capacity modulation such as variable speed capacity control.
  2. EEV and compatible superheat controller.
  3. Speed controlled condensing fans, that:
    • are electronically commutated (EC) fans, or
    • are variable speed drive (VSD) driven fans
  4. Evaporator fans, that are electronically commutated (EC) fans (this is generally the most expensive option).
  5. Technology capable of varying condensing temperature with ambient temperature to improve system performance.

Either item 1 or item 5 must be one of the EE features to achieve 3 out of 5 EE features.

Project-based activities

Project-based activities (PBA) help businesses access incentives for large and custom VEU projects via a measurement and verification method.

Expert Group is an accredited business that can undertake measurements and verification and other professional services on energy efficiency upgrades.

The PBA method is a flexible way for businesses, usually with large energy use, to access incentives and offset the cost of their energy efficiency improvement projects. PBAs are technology neutral and require measurement and verification of the actual baseline energy consumption before and after the upgrade to calculate the value of the abatement and number of certificates.

Heat pumps – replace gas heating with air conditioner

Expert Group can provide rebates for space heating/cooling upgrades under the VEU program at residential premises.

We are deal exclusively with a dedicated team of fully qualified and certified mechanical plumbers who can decommission gas heating systems and install space heating/cooling heat pumps from major brands including Daikin, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
