CASE STUDY: Ritchies IGA refrigeration upgrade project
14 stores upgraded to deliver a 20.2% saving on total store electricity usage with an average payback on the investment of 18 months (VEU rebate inclusive).
Throughout 2019 -2021, RitchiesStores conducted a series of upgrades to the refrigeration in their VIC stores. This included enhancements to their medium temperature refrigerated display cases including:
✓ Door retrofit
✓ Fluorescent tube replacement with LED tubes
✓ Case fans upgraded to more efficient EC fans
✓ Controls upgrade to manage reduced refrigeration load. This included VSD on the lead compressor and unloaders on the lag compressors.
The energy savings were calculated via the Measurement & Verification method and the
rebate claimed through the VEU program
